This would be a great place for a retreat for us. A long drive, yes, but the house has five bedrooms--Arts and Crafts period decor, a fancy chicken coop, waterfalls and swimming holes nearby, lots of nooks and crannies to write in, beautiful porches and decks, deep in the woods. So Jan and I went to the photo shoot, and the photographer wanted me to stand on one leg like a stork because, as you know, the guy in my story thinks he's a stork. A guy in my Brit. Lit. class is doing a project on Tolkien’s short story “Leaf by Niggle,” which I had never even heard of, so I decided to read it.
